Mariah Carey reveled in old Hollywood glamor as she performed during the American Music Awards’ 50th anniversary special event in Los Angeles on Sunday. The legendary artist, who has won ten AMAs, sang a medley of hits from her tenth album “The Emancipation of Mimi,” which celebrates its 20th anniversary in 2025.
For the occasion, Carey chose a strapless Schiaparelli dress with a draped bodice and floor-length train. The fitted bustier of her dress was made from ecru satin and black velvet and featured a half-moon neckline. Diamond-encrusted jewelry, including a statement necklace, earrings and bracelets, completed her look.

The singer wore her honey blonde locks in waves with side bangs, while her makeup consisted of bronze eyeshadow, coral blush and a glossy nude lip.
Carey’s current residency in Las Vegas also celebrates “The Emancipation of Mimi.” Their ongoing concert series, scheduled to end in early 2025, will take place at the Dolby Live Theater.
On stage, Carey wears custom looks from Robert Wun, Sophie Couture and Valdrin Sahiti. The latter label designed a nude mesh strapless dress embellished with Swarovski crystals, while her gold Sophie Couture dress featured a thigh-high slit. Wun designed a pink dress with a removable pleated skirt for the singer.
In lieu of a ceremony, the American Music Awards will celebrate its 50th anniversary this year with a special televised broadcast on CBS and Paramount+. Cast members include Raye, Stray Kids, Mariah Carey and Gladys Knight, while Kate Hudson, Reba McEntire, Carrie Underwood and Jennifer Lopez, among others, will make special appearances.
